Hello my dear friends

Today is Monday, January 13th. It is the first full moon of 2025. Things feel very heavy and tender right now (maybe always).

My prayer for you this week is that you can honor the grief you may be feeling for the world, the humans, and the animals that are hurting. You may also be feeling a lot of rage and anger, or maybe just numbness, or perhaps also some glimmers of joy, love, and awe.

Whatever and however you are feeling, it is welcome and it is valid.

Deep breath in. Feel your tummy expand.

And an extended exhale.

Pause.

Repeat however many times as needed.

1) a raffle for LA fire relief

My heart is completely shattered open wide (as i am sure is the case for you as well) watching the destruction caused by the fires in LA right now. In an effort to help in some small way, I am raffling off a custom Magic Top to raise some funds for those affected by these fires (humans and animals).

- $10 per entry, enter as many times as you’d like (so $30 = 3 entries, $100 = 10 entries)

- Raffle will go until Thursday 1/16 and winner announced 1/17. Winner will get to choose the details and design for their Magic Top.

2) some other ways to help

It has been very heartwarming to see how many people are stepping up to provide aid and relief to those impacted by these fires. If you are looking for some other ways to help, here are a few options:

• you can sign up to donate new or gently used clothes to someone who needs them with Seconds Market

• there are also many many places collecting new and unused essential items to distribute to people who have lost everything that you can look into donating to

3) wall hanging class starts next week!

In this class, we will be crafting a fully hand-sewn wall hanging or altar cloth to represent and channel your prayers, dreams, and intentions for the year ahead. It is going to be so sweet, powerful, and tender.

No sewing machine or sewing experience required. Show up as you are, take what you like, and leave the rest.

Class is currently over half full and enrollment will close either when I reach max capacity or on the 21st.

I would love to work with you to create your very own fiber-based wish for the future, a prayer of gratitude, or maybe a spell for remembering softness, awe, healing, or protection. Custom orders can include: dresses, vests, jackets, wall hangings, and more!

5) two kind of boring but relevant housekeeping updates

In case you are interested in some of the backend business decisions I am making, here are two updates that may interest you.

First, i will be leaving substack at the end of this month and will return to sending my email newsletter through my old format, which is just a “normal” email newsletter. There is nothing you need to do about this, you will still get my emails, they will just look different. That being said, if you are a paid substack subscriber, I am working on coming up with a different approach to a paid subscription offering that can feel more aligned with me. I will announce what I come up with for that soon :)

Second, in an effort to make things simpler for myself and Abbie (my assistant who helps with computer things), tutorials will no longer be a sliding scale price and instead will be a set price (which will be the minimum amount they are now) going forward.
