Happy Me Made May! In honor of this fun month, I am going to send a few sewing related emails over the next few weeks :)
A question I often get is how do I take care of my body while sewing? I think we can all agree it is very important to take care of our creative tools. We can’t sew if our sewing machines need repair or our scissors aren’t sharp. Well, whatever the creative practice you have is, your body is as much of a tool for creating as the machines, brushes, kilns, instruments, etc. are. Part of building a sustainable creative practice (and business if that is what you are doing) is making sure that the bodies involved are cared for and are not being harmed, which includes your own body!
This is something I am actively in the process of learning and believing. It’s easy for me to say this to other people but then my little brain is like “but not you tho" to myself. Which is incorrect. My body also deserves to be taken care of.
I have a long history of working myself to the point of complete burnout, exhaustion, and injury.
